September 2017 Horror Movies

Cinema, Hall, Film, Cinema Lovers, Movie-Goers, TheaterIn September, there looks like a few horror movies coming out that I am dying (lol) to see. As we get closer to Halloween, the amount of horror movies hitting screens, both big and small, seem to hit the screen. Which, as a horror movie lover, makes me a very happy lady.

IT (September 8, 2017): Of course, the most anticipated of the September releases, for me, is IT. This one is the highest on my list for must see due to the fact it looks creepy as fuck. I am terrified of clowns, but I am willing to suck it up to see this move. I did enjoy the original for what it was, but this one looks amazing. If you didn't know, IT is a Stephen King story about a group of kids who face off against an evil, shape-shifting entity who is involved in the disappearance of other kids in their town in Maine. Pennywise, the evil entity, often portrays himself as a fucking scary-ass clown. So far, this one looks scary and super high quality, so here is hoping it lives up to the hype.

Little Evil (September 1, 2017): This one is also on my must-see list. Described as a horror comedy, this one stars Adam Scott as stepdad to the (possible) Anti-Christ. I do enjoy a good horror comedy, so I have high hopes for this one. It is a Netflix Original, so it shall be easy to watch from the comfort of my home. I really don't know to much of the plot yet, but check out the trailer online to get an idea of this movie.

Mother (September 15, 2017): This is another big budget horror movie which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer. This one looks rather creepy and although I cannot find much plot details, it looks life a horror/ psychological thriller about uninvited guests showing up at a couple's house and things take a rather scary-looking turn. It is on my watchlist for sure and I am curious about what is going on.

Leatherface (September 21, 2017): I am on the fence about this one, due to the last Texas Chainsaw movie which was sub-par in my opinion. This movie serves as a prequel to the all the other movies, showing how Leatherface comes to be. I do admit it looks like it could be good, but I am always wary of sequels and prequels to classic horror movies. I shall watch it, but probably when it hits DVD/ Blu-Ray release time.

The Houses October Built 2 (September 22, 2017): I am actually looking forward to this one. I stumbled across the first on Netflix one night and I found it surprisingly enjoyable plus decently scary. Here is hoping the second one is just as good. It is a found footage film, like the first, but I enjoy that personally. I believe this is going to be a VOD release, so if possible, check it out. And watch the first one for some decent scares.

Friend Request (September 22, 2017): The trailer makes this movie look decent and it is a big budget horror, so the effects look great. However, we shall see how it goes after it is released. The concept is basically a popular girl friends a “weirdo” on Facebook and when she ends up being a little crazy, she deletes the girl from her social media page. However, the girl ends up killing herself and scary things happen. Movies focused around social media always make me wary, but it could end up being decent.

Jackals (September 1, 2017): Another VOD movie, this one is set in the 1980s and follows a family trying to protect themselves when a cult comes looking for the family member they freed. Although not a big budget horror movie, this one looks pretty slick and I do have a love for movies about cults. I shall be checking it out for sure.

Other notable mentions: Gerald's Game (Netflix, September 29), Flatliners (Theatrical Release, September 29), Rememory (Limited, September 8) and The Limehouse Golem (VOD/ Limited, September 8).

Of course, since it is September, there are more, but these are the ones I am looking forward to checking out this month. Any horror movies you are anticipating?
